Why we are here... « Thread Started on Aug 3, 2005, 2:09pm »
The reason why THE COFFEE SHOP is here is simple. We are a place where you can pull off of the information superhighway and relax, have fun, and enjoy other's company. We are not in competition with any other website or forum. If you just want to visit for a moment, you are welcome. If you wish to call this your "home", that's great, too. The only thing that will absolutely NOT be tolerated is personal attacks, whether it is against anyone on this any other forum.
Any of the "regulars" will do everything possible to ensure that your time in THE COFFEE SHOP is a pleasant one.
We're here to kick back, relax, and enjoy the coffee!

There have been no negative comments at all; I just want it clear to anyone who visits that personal attacks will not be tolerated, and we are not here to attempt to discredit anyone for any reason.

Thanks, Coffeenole, for this Great forum.
I have long since been burned out about the forum from which most of us came, and for the very reason of Personal Attacks.
I consider myself a person capable of logical thought and I believe that I consider others to have the same capacity. With that ability comes responsibility, of consideration, of respect, and of cooperation.
This forum is like a 'prayer answered' and I support you in keeping it that way.

While I appreciate that some might find this place to be what they want, I think that the "other" place might not be what they feared it has become.
I'm here because I like you folks, and you're here because you want things the way you want them to be. Fine. I hope we can still be friends, and that you can jump over there whenever you want.

wr - I'm still "commuting", for two reasons - I have finally gotten high enough in the points totals there that I want to continue with that aspect, and there are some people there that I would not "see" unless I'm there.
But there are other aspects there that are a real pain!

As for myself, I have not completely given up any other forums. I've been working a lot of extra overtime, and when I do go on line, I prefer to spend the lion's share of my time getting this site tweaked and writing the Coffee House Times. After that's done, I may do another Gazette. I still post gas prices somewhat regularly, and you never know when I'll pop in. I'm not mad at anybody; I only want to give folks a peaceful place to be. Just as a person doesn't have to move away from their hometown to enjoy visiting someplace else, the same concept holds true for everyone who either "moves" here or "visits" here.

I came here upon invitation by two members.
I seldom participate in open discussion on the "other" forum because too often, those people that disagreed with some, were made to feel awful. I know of a couple of people that almost quit, for the same reason. They were talked into staying and hang out in the Cafe', which is a safe haven of sorts. I do NOT like to argue, I usually try to avoid it.

bb,
I see what you mean. I hope you see what I mean.
Coffeenole,
Thanks again for this refuge. While I'm one who likes the "other place," this is a fine place you've also put together. I hope you allow me to keep dropping by.
