Hi Adui, my excess habit is food. I'm now on the "change in lifestyle" eating and doing well so far. The people here are an inspiration to me and helping immensely.

Glad we are both giving er' H*ll!

Well Jemac, My turn to repay the support you've given with encouragement in your fight.

While I do not advocate a total abstinence apraoch such as I have used, (We do got to eat something my friend [image] ) I encourage you to do your best to keep it to the healthier foods and all in moderation.

I dont know much about dieting myself, but I have a good ear so talk away!

Well, the dieting is doing good so far, with a 10.5# loss since 1/1/06, so it is doing good. The one thing I hate to do is exercise and so far have been able to lose weight without one bit of exercise. I'm not saying this is right, not to exercise, but I do lose without it.

I'm down from 278 to 244.5 now and trying to head to 200#. My dieting support group on the other post here are doing their job and I'm trying to give them support too.

If you feel you want to lose any pounds, wander over there and join the group as we are an energetic bunch of sweeties.

Silver - you have mentioned eating as an emotional response, or eating for reasons other than being hungry - and i found an article on that from the Mayo Clinic:

http://mayoclinic.com/health/weight-loss/MH00025

They also send out a weekly e-newsletter - very interesting, and it's free!

BB, I went to the Mayo Site and it was exceedingly interesting. I signed up for the free weekly e-newsletter. I used to get their newsletters by mail and if it is the same but free via e-mail, it will be great.

Thanks and a hug to you!

I have been told to slow down by some of you and the pill pushers. I can't sit around the house everyday and wait for tulips. Mayo Clinic site is very helpful as well as the VA Hospital.

I've been listening to an old album by The Band, and one bit of lyrics has been sticking in my mind, from Up on Cripple Creek:

by J.R.Robertson. Album: The Band
© 1969 Canaan Music, Inc.

A D
When I get off of this mountain, you know where I want to go?
A D E
Straight down the Mississippi river, to the Gulf of Mexico
A D
To Lake Charles, Louisiana, little Bessie, girl that I once knew
A D E
She told me just to come on by, if there's anything she could do

Refrain:

A
Up on Cripple Creek she sends me
D
If I spring a leak she mends me
E
I don't have to speak, she defends me
F#m G
A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one

This sounds like the perfect description of someone who needs to break off with the other person as the best way to get rid of the drinking - or whatever other bad habit this could be applied to.

My vice for now is Coca~Cola. I'm addicted to it. Diet Coke is not an option.
